This initiative of the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt aims to address the child obesity epidemic by increasing access to fresh, healthy foods across Nashville and improving nutrition education. Each summer, the Veggie Project works with youth to host weekly produce-markets at various sites across Nashville while leading them through a ‘Farm-to-Fork’ nutrition education curriculum to teach them where their food comes from and healthy eating habits. In past years, the Veggie Project procured it’s fresh fruits and veggies from local farmers. While we still intend on supporting our local farmers, this year the Veggie Project is also seeking to build partnerships with the many school & community gardens that have been developing over the past few years! We are inspired by the many new gardens popping up across the city and would love to help support the continued development and sustainability of these efforts! Therefore, Veggie Project is seeking fresh fruits & vegetables to stock our weekly produce markets that run from June through mid-August. I am happy to discuss a possible partnership and agreement with anyone seeking a site to distribute their summer produce! Looking forward to working with you J
